Lima, 07 de Enero de 2015.- La Reinita Palmera (Setophaga palmarum) es una especie migratoria de Norteamérica cuya presencia no había sido previamente documentada en Perú. Un individuo de esta especie fue avistado y fotografiado por Jacob Drucker y otros observadores de aves en la carretera que pasa a un lado de la Estación Biológica de Wayqecha el 19 de septiembre del 2013. El registro fue enviado al Comité de Registro de Aves Peruanas (CRAP), siendo aceptado por unanimidad en noviembre del 2014.
Este avistamiento incrementa el número de especies de aves que ocurren en el Perú y destaca la importancia de los bosque de nubes del sureste de Perú como un lugar importante para las aves a nivel global. En la estación biológica de Wayqecha se habían registrado previamente 202 especies de aves.

Lima, January 7 2015.- The Palm Warbler (Setophaga palmarum) is a migratory species from North America that was not previously documented in Peru. An individual of this species was seen and photographed by Jacob Drucker and several other bird watchers in the road that passes at one side of y Research Station on September 19, 2013. This record was send to the Committee for the Register of Peruvian Birds, and was unanimously accepted in November 2014.
This record increases the number of known bird species occurring in Peru and highlights the importance of cloud forests in south-eastern Peru as an important ecosystem for birds globally. Before this record, 202 bird species were registered in Wayqecha Research Station.
