Support for the Management of Protected Natural Areas

WE PROTECT NATURAL AREAS

We provide technical and financial support for strategic activities in the Protected Natural Areas (ANP) within our scope of action. We work in the buffer and influence zones of these ANPs to promote sustainable livelihoods and protect land, reducing the environmental impact of unsustainable practices. In addition, in collaboration with the State and local stakeholders, we carry out participatory planning processes to build a shared, long-term vision for the prioritized ANP buffer zones. These efforts promote deforestation monitoring and productive projects that strengthen management in these areas.

MANU National Park

Manu National Park is one of the most important protected areas in the country and is internationally recognized for its extraordinary biodiversity. Our Private Conservation Area (ACP) Wayqecha and the Los Amigos Conservation Concession border Manu National Park. Since its establishment, we have been active members of its Management Committee, providing technical support to inform decision-making and promote improved management of this Protected Natural Area (ANP)

Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu

The Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary is the most visited protected natural area in Peru. It combines exceptional scenic beauty with invaluable historical and cultural heritage, including the Inca archaeological complex. We support the management of the area through biological research and capacity-building initiatives. Currently, we are part of the Executive Commission of the Management Committee, working to ensure the conservation and proper management of this globally significant site.

Amarakaeri Communal Reserve

The Amarakaeri Communal Reserve is a refuge of remarkable biological diversity and, at the same time, preserves and promotes the cultural values of the native Harakmbut communities. The co-management of the reserve includes the participation of ten neighboring indigenous communities. As part of our institutional commitments and in collaboration with strategic partners, we support the development of sustainable livelihood projects and strengthen surveillance and control systems. In addition, we provide training to local leaders and authorities in conflict resolution, and have implemented a participatory monitoring system for hydrobiological resources.

Tamopata National Reserve

In close collaboration with the Management Committee, we are developing the strategic plan for the protection of the Buffer Zone of the Tambopata National Reserve (PEZA). This plan, developed jointly with local population representatives and multiple institutions, seeks environmentally sustainable development aligned with conservation objectives. We organize responsible activities to preserve ecosystems and natural resources in the area. Additionally, in line with our institutional commitments, we support the monitoring of deforestation threats and work to ensure an effective response by the competent authorities.

Megantoni National Sanctuary

Established in 2004, the Megantoni National Sanctuary covers 215,868 hectares and aims to preserve the ecosystems of the area. Its mission includes protecting Indigenous People in Voluntary Isolation and providing a special use area for the Sababantiari community, allowing them to continue traditional practices and monitor hunting activities. As members of the Unified Management Committee with the Machiguenga Community Reserve, we actively participate in and support the implementation of the Sanctuary’s Master Plan.
