WE PROTECT NATURAL AREAS
We have supported the conservation of more than 750 thousand hectares along an altitudinal gradient from the Ausangate mountain range to the Amazon lowlands by helping create and manage conservation areas at national (Communal Reserves), regional (Regional Conservation Areas), and local (Private Conservation Areas) levels.
Through these efforts, we promote ecological connectivity through conservation corridors covering more than 1 million hectares, linking 5 major areas: Manu National Park, Los Amigos Conservation Concession, the Reserve for Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation, Bahuaja Sonene National Park, and the Tambopata National Reserve.
Creation of Conservation Areas and Corridors
Through our work with Regional Governments on the creation and establishment of Regional Conservation Areas (RCAs), we play a fundamental role as strategic allies. Our contribution focuses on providing technical and financial support made possible through collaboration with partner organizations.
The first Regional Conservation Area (RCA) of Cusco: A biodiversity refuge between the provinces of Anta and La Convención.
Three Canyons or Suykutambo Canyon offers us an impressive geological spectacle: Ancestral Heritage in the heights of the Andes.
Ausangate Regional Conservation Area is home to the largest chain of tropical glaciers in the world, which supplies water to hundreds of families in the region.
Creation of Conservation Areas and Corridors
Within the framework of our institutional agreements and cooperation agreements, we provide technical support and guidance to local communities and families seeking to protect their natural spaces. We empower them to make informed conservation decisions and promote participatory, sustainable conservation that fosters well-being and development in harmony with nature.
Private Conservation Areas – ACP are properties recognized by the Peruvian State and privately owned by individuals or legal entities. These areas contain representative samples of natural ecosystems characteristic of their environment and are conserved independently by their owners.
These are publicly available forest territories that the Peruvian State, through SERFOR/MINAGRI, grants by contract to applicants so they may carry out conservation, protection, research, education, management, and sustainable use activities involving non-timber forest products.
The Local Forest is a modality included in the forestry and wildlife law, which allows, through forest management plans, access to the services that the forest provides, taking advantage of the extraction of wood, wildlife, for non-commercial purposes and other products.
These are geographic spaces of exceptional native, cultural, and ecological agrobiodiversity, located within peasant communities, in the high Andes.
